ME Map: Brownie Quest Connect Key

Even though we're days away from World Thinking Day (February 22, 2014), we're still fitting in badge work to get through our Brownie Quest Journey. We've completed our Discover Key and we're steps away from earning the Connect Key. The final stage of this key is letting the girls discover how they connect to the world around them. There is a map in the girls' journey books, but since not all of my girls bring their books I made up a printable ME map that they can all fill in with the group. I also made a large one that we can put on our journey poster.

I always love making separate printables of certain stages in our badge work because it gives the girls a tangible object to put in their mini memory scrapbooks that we made at the beginning of the year. With this printable, they can write in their spaces (ME is the center of the map, followed by family, Girl Scouts/Brownies, community, the world) without having to tear the page out of their books.

The goal of the ME Map is to show how the girls play a role in the greater community. This is an important step they need to discover so they can decided on what they want to improve in their community (the last step of the journey, the Take Action Key). Those Healthy Living cards are used in conjunction with this map to demonstrate to the girls how they can take leadership at home and influence their families to be healthier. The small influence at home should be a springboard of inspiration for the girls to see that they can make a difference in their communities too.
